CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Keep Your Gi Competition-Ready

Proper care extends the life of your uniform and maintains its WKF-approved appearance. Follow these guidelines to keep it white, structured, and performance-ready.

Washing

  • Machine wash cold (30°C / 86°F) on gentle cycle
  • Use a mild, colour-safe detergent — no bleach
  • Wash white gis separately from coloured items
  • Turn inside out to reduce surface wear
  • Do not use fabric softener — it weakens cotton fibres

Drying

  • Air dry flat or on a hanger — do not tumble dry
  • Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods (causes yellowing)
  • Do not wring or twist — this distorts the weave

Ironing

  • Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for a crisp finish
  • Iron inside-out to protect embroidery and logos
  • Do not iron directly on patches or printed areas

Storage

  • Ensure gi is completely dry before folding and storing
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture
  • Use a breathable cotton bag for transport — avoid sealed plastic bags

After Training

Wash your gi after every training session. Salt from sweat weakens cotton fibres over time and promotes yellowing. A fresh gi is also a matter of respect on the mat.
